Tips For Someone Who's New to Makeup

As some of some of you would know last summer, I was very new to makeup and that was part of the reason I started this blog -- so I could learn more about it. But, now after several trips to sephora and half a year of reading beauty blogs and writing reviews of products, I can safely say that I am no longer "new" to the world of beauty. I'm no expert obviously, but I'm not a complete newbie either. I know what to look for and how to do some makeup tricks and all that.

So being someone who was very new to makeup a few months ago, I know exactly what you're thinking: Where do I even start? And that is the question that I'll be answering today in this post!

The very first step before buying anything is research! Watch beauty gurus on youtube or read beauty blogs -- I find that these are more down-to-earth approach than picking up a magazine because they're actual people talking about products without a whole coorporation behind them. Here's a list of a few you can start off with:

The next tip I have for you is... don't rush things. Don't go running to sephora and spend a lot of money without first reading reviews of the products. Start small. Go to your local drgustore and purchase makeup there. Maybelline, Rimmel and L'Oreal are brands I swear by, as well as e.l.f. and Nyx. Try those out first. Also, go to Marshall's or TJMaxx, they always have great deals on high-brand makeup.

Now, the question is... what do you need? Well, that depends on what look you want to go with... but let's say you want something that looks natural, what do you need then? What I would advice to pruchase first is concelear and a good one, I've heard bloggers rave about the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concelear! A mascara will make you appear more awake and make your eyes pop even if you're not wearing any shadows, Maybelline and Covergirl always have very good ones. Lipsticks or lipglosses tie the whole look together, you can experiment and try different colors with different brands but my favorites are from Rimmel and Nyx because they offer good quality on a cheaper price. That's essentially what you need, the rest will come with time and you decide what you think is best for you.

If you still want to know more, I'd recommend you to go to sephora for a free 15-minute session where they teach you how to do one of multiple looks like the smoky eye, contour, everyday eye and more. They're a great way to learn about what you need to start off your beauty obsession and they give you a lot of helpful advice.

Before anything though, be aware that skincare is the foundation for everything. You need a good skincare routine. Again, you don't need to break the bank to get this either. Neutrogena always have great cleansers that you can get in your local drugstore for less than $10 and pair that with samples from Clinique like I do and you're good to go!

And that's it! Share what you're beauty tips are for someone who's new to makeup or what beauty advice did someone give you when you were first starting that stuck with you? Don't forget to follow me on bloglovin and sign up for my newsletter so you never miss a post! See you babes soon~
