Hey guys, Merzy here!

For a long time now, I've been in a reading block. Nothing that I picked up held my interest, I didn't have time to read an actual book and it was just easier to read fanfiction and graphic novels instead. But since starting university and having to take the train every day, I decided it's about time to go back to books to pass the time!

Going to the bookstore to buy a new book, I knew two things: I didn't know what was good anymore since leaving the amazon book reviews section & I wanted a light, happy story, nothing too grand or angsty (I was done with high fantasy books that was more pain than anything else). I wanted something fun, so I asked the girl who worked there what she recommended and she pointed to this book right away, so I bought it just like that. I've never gone this blind to a book before, I knew basically what to expect, having read the summary, but I had no idea what the rest of the internet thought of it, I just knew this one girl's opinion.

Before anything else, let me show you the official summary:
Emily is about to take some risks and have the most unexpected summer ever. Hellogiggles.com says, “Basically I couldn’t be more in love with this book,” from the bestselling author of Second Chance Summer and Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour.

Before Sloane, Emily didn’t go to parties, she barely talked to guys, and she didn’t do anything crazy. Enter Sloane, social tornado and the best kind of best friend—someone who yanks you out of your shell.

But right before what should have been an epic summer, Sloane just…disappears. There’s just a random to-do list with thirteen bizarre tasks that Emily would never try. But what if they can lead her to Sloane?

Apple picking at night?
Okay, easy enough.

Dance until dawn?
Sure. Why not?

Kiss a stranger?
Wait…what?

Getting through Sloane’s list will mean a lot of firsts, and with a whole summer ahead of her—and with the unexpected help of the handsome Frank Porter—who knows what she’ll find.
Go Skinny Dipping? Um…

Sounds fun, right? And it was! I have this thing with finding books that are perfect for my current situations and just manage to change my life in their own way, and this book was definitely no exception. Emily is me! I identified to deeply with this book and I loved it so much I kept reading even when I wasn't on the train!

I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing by moving on entirely from that girl I was in high school. This book proved to me that I was right in changing, in growing into someone that I really wanted to become in University.
If you're going through a hard time or feel like you need to change your life and be happier or you want to but don't know how, this book is that push you need to finally do that!

So, would I recommend this book to you? Yes, Definitely! The only negative I can really think of is that is it slow in the beginning, it takes a while for the plot to really get going. But regardless, it's a fun, light-hearted book that focuses on friendships, love, confidence and how it all ties together to bring you the happiness you deserve!

My Rating:
